Welcome to OnTheWing - a website designed to inflict my interest in moths and butterflies on any unsuspecting individual who should accidentally stray here.

What to expect

Not too much - I'm not a professional website designer, I'm still a beginner on the moths and I'm far from being a butterfly expert.  Any helpful advice about this site, corrections for errors I have made or ideas for other things to add should be emailed to me at info@onthewing.org.uk .

I'll try to keep the site updated with my recent sightings, details of any meetings and excursions, relevant news and photos of anything that will sit still for long enough in front of my camera.

There are plans for pages on places that I visit regularly, books that I find useful and which moths and butterflies can be seen 'on-the-wing' in any particular month.  These will almost certainly take a very long time to appear though, so feel free to check back every few months or so ....

 

About this website

I live in Scarborough (North Yorkshire, England), so there will be a definite bias towards the Yorkshire area. 

Lepidoptera (the group name for moths and butterflies) is my main area of interest, but any other wildlife I stumble across on my travels will also get a mention.
