A decent catch in the moth trap after a nice warm sunny day.
Small Angle Shades, Treble Lines and Turnip Moth were all new for
the year. They were joined by good numbers of Silver-ground Carpet,
Buff Ermine, Heart and Dart, Brimstone Moth and more Cockchafers.
Much better for butterflies on castle hill today, with my first
sighting of a Large Skipper this year. Also saw eight Speckled
Woods, a Painted Lady, a Small Copper and a few each of Large and
Small Whites.

A good catch after a warm night (lowest temperature was twelve degrees), including three species that were new for the year - Ingrailed Clay, Sandy Carpet and Small Magpie. On castle hill, Large Skipper, Painted Lady and Speckled Wood were all still out-and-about as were Large and Small Whites.

A quieter night in the moth trap, but we still managed two species that were new for the year - Beautiful Golden Y and Setaceous Hebrew Character. No Cockchafers were caught.
